End of day trailing drawdown moves only on a new closing high
The firm compares each day's closing balance against your highest previous close. If it is higher, the floor rises by the difference and stays there.
A day that closes lower changes nothing, because the floor never falls back. An intraday spike you gave back before the bell does not move it either.
Your trailing drawdown stops climbing
once it reaches the starting balance
Topstep locks its Maximum Loss Limit there, and Earn2Trade 's EOD drawdown stops trailing at the starting balance in the same way.
After the lock, the account behaves like a static one: new highs no longer pull anything up behind you. Reaching that lock is the real milestone of a trailing evaluation.
An EOD drawdown reads your highest daily close, not your highest balance
The calculator wants your highest end-of-day closing balance. Most traders type in the biggest number they ever saw on screen, which is usually an intraday spike.
Enter that and the floor comes back too high. You will think you have less room than you really do, and the tool may tell you the floor has locked when it has not.
Topstep and Earn2Trade both use
an end of day trailing drawdown
| Firm | Rule as the firm names it | Floor stops rising at |
|---|---|---|
| Topstep | Trailing (end of day) | Starting balance |
| Earn2Trade | Trailing (end of day) | Starting balance |
Rules last checked July 2026. Confirm against the firm's own documentation before you trade — firms change loss limits and lock levels without much notice.
